"HEAVY FEET" HELMETS
SPIROTECHNICS
Here is a presentation of the personal collection of Philippe Rousseau on the "heavy foot" helmets marketed by the professional branch of LA SPIROTCHNIQUE until its closure in 1976. There are 3 models, very rare and of great value.
A big thank you to Philippe for sharing his treasures with us.
HEAVY HELMET
SPIROTECHNICS
12 bolts
180 copies produced
Heavy helmet 12 bolts LA SPIROTECHNIQUE made in Spain in BARCELONA, from the same small manufacturer that produced heavy helmets of a similar type for the Spanish brand NEMROD.
The manufacturer's plate mentions : " SPIROTECHNIQUE ESPANA ".
EIP HEADSET 5
Here is the first professional deep diving helmet with saturation " EIP 5 " (for " integrated diving equipment »Model 5, or 5th generation). The previous models were only prototypes made in single copies and not marketed. The EIP 5 has been marketed. It was an incredible " Gaz factory »Composed of several hundred spare parts, incorporating regulator and regulator VZ, for dives to saturation up to the range of 200 to 250 meters.
He had a design flaw : no valve to avoid a " squeeze ”Inside the helmet. Two fatal accidents have occurred and manufacturing has been halted.
The SPIRO engineer who was the designer was Serge VEZ.
The one on the left is the prototype of the EIP 5 that Philippe Rousseau is in the process of restoring. The one on the right is the production model, subsequently marketed.
EIP HEADSET 6
When the production of EIP 5 was stopped, LA SPIROTECHNIQUE still had a few rare orders for professional helmets with gas recovery system by overflow valve. So the engineers found a simpler solution : buy American KIRBY-MORGAN helmets and transform them by equipping them with the SPIROTECHNIQUE regulator " VZ ". They called this model the EIP 6 and there were only 3 or 4 examples made.
