My most beautiful pieces!

A trip among the pioneers of diving.

Scaphandre autonome COUSTEAU-GAGNAN from 1946

I present here a piece probably unique because completely complete. It is one of the very first COUSTEAU-GAGNAN spacesuits marketed in July 1946 (namely that spirotechnics was founded on May 26, 1946). The mono-warhead bottle was tested in July 1946 and has the serial number 337, the paint is in very good condition and it still has its original harness (very rare). The CG45 regulator has the serial number 568, stamped on the back of the bowl on the HP body (the large manufacturer label will probably appear only in 1947, see early 1948).

For me, the grail of my collection, I have been looking for it for 25 years. It almost ended up at the recycling center .... barely saved.

It has the serial number 1097 and is the only large plate known to date with 4 digits. Produced around 500 units, it is extremely rare, I only know 9 of them around the world, mine included. This rarity comes from the fact that the majority were military and that they practically all ended up in the trash when the MISTRAL was released in 1955.

In 1955 when the MISTRAL regulator came out, the autonomous diving suit was sold with a wooden case allowing to store, bi-aluminum, regulator, wrench, mask, surface pressure gauge, belt with its sinkers.

The RAID was released in 1975 and it is a technisub creation at the request of Commander COUSTEAU who wanted a streamlined suit to equip his team of divers. RAID comes from the Italian Respiratore Aria Idro Dinamico, which in english means hydrodynamic air suit.

I let you discover now the regulators and the other parts of my collection.
